Our Story

Steely-Eyed Missile Man

On November 14, 1969, John Aaron sat in mission control of the Kennedy Space Center while NASA commenced The Apollo 12 Mission, the second ever manned flight to the moon. After completing prelaunch checks, Apollo 12 launched exactly on time at 11:23 am.

All was going to plan until, 36 seconds into the flight, the Saturn V rocket was struck twice by lightning, setting off nearly every alarm on the flight deck and garbling all telemetry data. Panic began to set in for the flight crew as they had no idea what was going on. Amidst the chaos, John committed himself to finding a pattern in the data.

After a brief, painstaking amount of time, John was able to say- with immense composure and presence of mind- just five simple words... five words which saved the Apollo 12 mission and the lives of everyone onboard, earning himself the legendary status of the steely-eyed missile man.

Our Fight

New Wave of VSAT Threats

Current VSAT networks were not designed with security in mind. Current network management system solutions are insufficient to detect new, advanced intrusions. This has led to a gap in VSAT cybersecurity that needs to be addressed urgently. Recent headlines have highlighted the importance of addressing this security gap, and Steely is leading the way in that charge towards better cybersecurity.

VSAT networks need a way to detect and respond to these unforeseen attacks in real-time. With unique knowledge of normally undetectable threats, SATCOM Overwatch provides a new layer of defense for critical VSAT networks by using heuristics developed against observed attack methodologies and real-world scenarios, providing a revolutionary defense against these new threats.

"Hackers and spoofers are constantly finding new ways to exploit VSAT vulnerabilities, and it's only a matter of time before they succeed in causing a major disruption."

- John Smith, VP of Security at Hughes Network Systems
